Lifesygns to host Parish Advent Series

The LifeSygns youth group will be sponsoring 4 weeks of “The Sygns of the Season”. Each Sunday evening during Advent a different topic will be discussed. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend these sessions – either all 4 or just the topics that interest you. They are as follows:

  • Nov 27th – Sygns of the World – a discussion and focus on remembering that, in this season where the decorations are now coming out sometime in September, we need to focus on the real message of Christmas. Parish Hall @ 7-8pm presented by Deacon Michael Martini.
  • Dec 4th – Sygns from the Heavens – a discussion and focus on the scientific research behind finding what the actual star of Bethlehem might have been and what it looked like, based on a documentary that was run last year on EWTN. Parish Hall @ 7-8pm presented by Alex Podchaski
  • Dec 11th – Sygns from the Bible – a focus on salvation history based on an overview that covers God’s Covenant with his people. Parish Hall @ 7-8pm presented by Deacon Mike Meyer
  • Dec 18th – Sygns of the Incarnation – a Walk-Through Living Nativity @ 5pm-9pm. 7 scenes from the story of Christmas as told in the Bible will be set up on the church grounds for guests to walk around, and view. Hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, cakes, candy and refreshments will be served. Let us not forget the true message of Christmas. All from our community are Welcome!

Welcome to the New Evangelization!

Finally, after a lot of time spent wondering and worrying, we have made it to a new site! We hope to make continual improvements moving forward, so please let us know what you think when you come to meetings or via our different methods of communications. We hope that this site helps keep everyone connected as we move forward into the New Evangelization.

What is the New Evangelization you may ask? It comes from a statement made by Pope John Paul II in his letter NOVO MILLENNIO INEUNTE,

Over the years, I have often repeated the summons to the new evangelization. I do so again now, especially in order to insist that we must rekindle in ourselves the impetus of the beginnings and allow ourselves to be filled with the ardour of the apostolic preaching which followed Pentecost. We must revive in ourselves the burning conviction of Paul, who cried out: “Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel” (1 Cor 9:16).

Pope Benedict XVI has called on us all to take up this task, creating the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization. In all our actions, be they online or in person, we are called to evangelize to the world. We are starting here. Where will you start?
